HEAD OF DIGITAL GOVERNANCE AND AI ADOPTION
Co-founder of Goodwill Asset Management in 2016. Today he is its compliance officer and answers for how the firm adopts digital processes and artificial intelligence. Before that, twenty years of quantitative management between Milan and London.
The control function
Goodwill Asset Management is an asset manager authorised by FINMA and audited every year. The compliance officer checks that what the firm does every day matches what the law and its own internal rules prescribe: FinIA, FinSA and AMLA obligations, client identification, operational risk control, and records good enough to reconstruct any decision years later.
Digital processes and artificial intelligence
He sets the conditions on which a technology enters a process of the firm: who answers when it is wrong, what stays on record, which decisions stay with a person. Then he builds the systems that must meet those conditions himself, and an unworkable rule shows up that way, while it is being written. The test he puts to any tool is how it behaves on the days it is wrong.
Before Chiasso
He starts in 1995 at Azimut in Milan, on equity management. Then proprietary trading at Monte dei Paschi di Siena, and nine years at Allianz Global Investors as senior manager of quantitative equity and derivatives portfolios on European and global markets. From 2007 he runs quantitative funds at Mediobanca, from 2009 in London at Pairstech Capital Management and then at Tendercapital, where he was a partner. Since 2016 he is in Chiasso.
Outside finance
Since 2023 he chairs a Swiss content production and distribution company, founded with his son, which builds the systems it works with in house. So he sees the choices about artificial intelligence from the side of those who set them up as well.
Education
Degree in economics at Università Luigi Bocconi, Milan, 110/110.
